Grammar Galaxy: Protostar (Volume 2) is a complete language arts curriculum for beginning readers (third graders or students who have completed Nebula or its equivalent). Teachers read the text and provide as much help as possible for students who are not yet reading at a strong 3rd-grade level.

Short, comical stories teach concepts in a memorable way. Students discover the havoc that ensues when the evil Gremlin tampers with the English language. Classic books are relegated to a long-term care facility and can’t be checked out. Idioms like “knock her socks off” begin to literally happen. Helping verbs on planet Sentence can’t be used when they agree with a motivational speaker that it’s time to focus on their own dreams.

The royal English children invite students to become fellow grammar guardians in order to save the galaxy from crises like these. Teachers read one of the mysteries to their students or advanced readers read this Protostar text themselves. Vocabulary words are defined in the text. Discussion questions follow each lesson to check for understanding. Students then complete a corresponding mission in the separate but required mission manual that reinforces the concepts. Teachers provide as much help as necessary.

Grammar Galaxy: Protostar, the second in a series of language arts texts for first to sixth graders, teaches:
